Made in Virginia Awards: Albariño
Virginia Living proudly presents the 2024 Made in Virginia Awards, spotlighting 20 remarkable products made across the Commonwealth. Featured in its December issue, this year’s awards recognize excellence in four categories: Home & Lifestyle, Style & Beauty, Food, and Drink.
This year’s selections were chosen with input from a panel of expert judges, including interior stylist Charlotte Safavi, writer and creative Heather Bien, food writer Stephanie Ganz, and wine expert Frank Morgan. Each of the 20 winning products showcases the ingenuity, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit that make Virginia’s makers truly stand out.
Valley Road Vineyards is proud to announce that its 2023 Albariño was chosen by wine expert Frank Morgan, stating: Crisp with a touch of sweetness, this is, “everything Albariño should be - light, refreshing, and loaded with zingy citrus.” It’s the first vintage from our Grayson Vineyard and is already award-winning, taking home gold in the Monticello Wine Competition. The pale yellow liquid promises rewarding tastes at first scent - hints of pear and melon are “aromatically charming,” Morgan notes.
